One of the most rewarding aspects of working or studying at the New York Institute of Photography is the worldwide community of photographers you’re able to join. Especially during events like Monday’s solar eclipse, it’s extraordinarily exciting to share photos with fellow students and photography-lovers with unique perspectives from all across the globe.
Before we share a round-up of all our favorite captures from the eclipse, we want to firstly congratulate NYIP graduate Jasman Mander, whose beautiful photo went absolutely viral overnight. We thought he said it best in his Facebook post:
“Hello Everyone! I'll start off by saying.....WOW!
A quarter of a million shares just on my Facebook post alone. Not to mention all the pages and blogs that have featured me and gave me credit sending thousands of traffic back to me.
For a few hours outside, and up until now, millions of people in the world stopped talking about politics. People stopped talking about hate, and only took in what they know and love as our beautiful world. A world we need to protect and love. We are all One and we need to continue to treat each other with love.
I have been completely overwhelmed by the response to my image of the eclipse. And I still have more to share.
Petapixel, Fstoppers, Reddit, 9gag, BoredPanda, even the town I was born put me in the news and so much more I am failing to mention.
My IG blew up from 6k to 20k overnight. The amount of emails I have received is incredible. I have been working in customer service for years, so I intend to respond to each and every one of you.
I have set up a Help Desk system, and I will be organizing, and hopefully sending an email to every single person by the end of the night. I have figured out my process and print pricing, and will update everyone via email ASAP! Thank God for my girlfriend/assistant Darian Westbrook. Thanks so much for everyone's continued patience.”
Congratulations Jasman! It’s always exciting to see members of the NYIP community accomplish amazing things. If you want to check out his website, you can do so by clicking here.
