New York Institute of Photography Launches Facebook Photo Contest

on Thursday, 12 September 2013.

The New York Institute of Photography has launched its first annual Facebook Photo Contest this week. The theme of this year's contest is "Oh, Beautiful". The photo contest is open to the public and anyone can submit a photograph during the entry period, which ends on October 4th.

NYIP's "Oh, Beautiful" Photography Contest was created to celebrate the world of photography, and its power to move us all. Entries will be divided into four categories: People, Nature and Landscapes, Animals and Pets, and Miscellaneous. Participants will be allowed to submit one photograph for consideration into any of the four categories.

Judging for the NYIP's "Oh, Beautiful" Photography Contest will be done in two stages. First, there will be a round of public voting. At the end of the public voting round, the top five vote-getting photos in each category will be entered into the running for the Grand Prize. The second round of judging will be done by NYIP's team of photography teachers and student advisors. They will choose the top photo in each category, as well as a Grand Prize winner from all categories.

There will be three levels of winners. The Grand Prize winner, chosen by NYIP's team of judges, will win a gift certificate for a new camera, their photo published in an article by NYIP, 50% off tuition at NYIP, a full line of photo editing software from Topaz, and a free lifetime premium membership to DPhoto, a total value of $1500. Three 2nd Prize winners, the best photo in each category, will win a $100 gift certificate to Adorama, 50% off tuition at NYIP, Topaz's "ReStyle" plugin, and a 3 year premium membership to DPhoto.

"We're thrilled to offer this opportunity for amateur photographers around the world to showcase their skills and compete," said Chris Corradino, head student advisor at NYIP and one of the judges for the contest. "We teach photographers of all skill levels and interests, and this is a chance for us to highlight some of the really great photographs we see from our students every day."
